This past week, I’m excited to announce that I have taken one step closer to celebrity blogger status. Family friend, Kara, and proud member of the Absolutely Andrew Blogroll is doing a series of guest posts on Thanksgiving and asked me to contribute. It was a lot of fun. If you haven’t yet, you should check it out.
I’m going to transition now to our latest progress on the house. The previous owners remodeled back in the ‘70s when ceiling lights were totally not in style. Lamps were all the rage. This is all well and good, but at least make the light switches control a few outlets then! Instead, they buried the old light fixtures in the ceiling, and did nothing to the switches, so at least 40% of the switches in our house do absolutely nothing. Nothing!!
Anyway, we took a trip to IKEA on Saturday. I had never been before, and found it quite the experience. The maps, the pencil and paper to write down what you want—it’s intense! I greatly enjoyed that the route was marked for me, and I left the store feeling confident that I had not missed a single section. We came away with 2 hanging lamps for our dining area, which is already outfitted with hooks, no doubt originally for macramé lamps.
So here’s a few pictures. Let me know what you think! I wasn’t sure at first, but they’ve grown on me. Notice also, the rope lights I put up behind the trim.
